Tom Henry Cottee was born on 31st July 1893 at Nottingham, he was baptised on 11th October 183 at Holy Trinity Church, Nottingham, he was the son of Tom a blacksmiths labourer and Florence Cottee who were living at Machins Yard, Sherwood Street, Nottingham.

He was the nephew of Samuel Cottee. In 1901 they lived at 2 Ellis Terrace, Northville Street, Raglan Street, Peas Hill Road Nottingham.

His father Thomas Cottee was born in 1864 he died prior to 1911, his mother Harriett Florence Brooks was born in 1865 she died in 1908 aged 43 yrs at Nottingham, they were married in 1884 at Nottingham, they went on to have 7 children.

His next of kin was his sister Florence Maud Cottee of 35 Hartford Terrace, Meadwos, Nottingham

Military history

Private Tom Henry Cottee enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 18th battalion Lancashire Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 22nd October 1917,
