William George Allsopp was born in 1880 at Nottingham, he was the son of George Edward Sidney a working traveller and Hannah Allsopp and the brother of Clarence Allsopp.
In 1881 they lived at 4 Pope's Place Derby Road and in 1901 at 86 Derby Road and in 1911 at 4 Beckenham Road Alfreton Road (all Nottingham).
In the 1911 census he is shown as William George Allsopp 30 yrs a tailoer he is living with his parets George Edward Sidney 56 yrs a traveller and Hannah Elizabeth 56 yrs , also living at the address are 2 lodgers
He was the husband of Emma Lee Peatfield (born 18th June 1890) whom he married in 1912 at Nottingham, they had 2 children, Florence Mary born 13th March 1913 and George Edward Allsopp born 28th August 1915 they lived at 9 Richmond Road West Bridgford Nottingham.
Commencing 16th July 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of 22 shillings and 11 pence a week.
Private William George Allsopp enlisted at Nottingham, he initially served with the service number 3683 in the Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment) he was killed in action on 18th November 1916 whilst serving wit the 10th battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
Nottingham Evening Post Roll of Honour 16/1/1918:
'Allsopp. Reported missing November 19th 1916 now officially reported killed, Pte G W Allsopp Royal Warwickshire Regt. of 9, Richmond Road West Bridgford. Wife, babies, mother and family.'
