George Bee was born on 7th January 1895 at Newcastle Emlyn, Wales he was the son of Thomas a window cleaner and Mary Bee nee Davies and the brother of Samuel, Hilda, Nellie and Elsie Bee.
His father Thomas was born in 1874 at Nottingham, his mother Mary Davies was born in 1873 at Newcastle Emlyn they were married on 21st May 1895 at Newcastle Emlyn and went on to have 6 children sadly 1 was to die in infancy or early childhood.
In the 1911 census the family lived at 5 Flewitt Street Alfred Street South Nottingham Thomas 36 yrs is a window cleaner, he is living with his wife Mary 38 yrs and their children, George 15 yrs an electric polisher, Samuel 10 yrs, Hilda 7 yrs, Nellie 1 year and Elsie 3 months old.
George married Mabel Wigley born 25th July 1892, whom he married on 23rd August 1915 at St Christopher's Church, Sneinton, Nottingham, they had 3 children, Doris Mary born 22nd November 1913, Thomas Henry 21st December 1914 and Samuel born 6th April 1916, they lived at 164 Cherrywood Road, Birmingham.
Commencing 18th December 1916 his widow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 6 pence a week.
Private George Bee enlisted on the 12th December 1915 at Biringham, giving his address as 164 Cherrywood Road, Birmingham, his age as 21 yrs, his next of kin was his wife Mabel he was posted to the reserves, he was mobilised on 4th September 1916 and posted to the Army Service Coprs, at Grove Park.
He was discharged from the Army on 4th December 1916 as no longer physically for war service due to pulmanory tuberculosis following a medical board on 13th November 1916. He died on 8th December 1916.
