Wallace Smith was born in 1889 at Nottingham, he was the son of Henry a grocer and provision merchant. and and Eleanor Smith née Watson Farnsworth and the brother of Mabel and Henry Smith.

His father Henry was born in 1862 at Nottingham, his mother Eleanor Watson Farnsworth was born in 1862 at Nottingham, they were married on 18th May 1882 at Holy Trinity Church Nottingham, the had 4 children, sadly 1 was to die in infancy or early childhood,

They lived at '8 The Knoll' Harlaxton Drive Lenton Nottingham in the 1911 census Henry 49 yrs a grocer and provisions merchant, he is living with his wife Eleanor 49 yrs and their chidren Mabel 28 yrs no occupation listed, Harry 25 yrs a grocers assistant and Wallace 22 yrs an architects assistant.

Military history

Second Lieutenant Wallace Smith enlisted and served with the 129th Field Company Royal Engineers, he was killed in action on 23rd November 1917 and is buried at Roisel Communal Cemetery, France
