Family history

Harry Frederick Scothon was born in 1883 at Nottingham he was the son of Edmund a hosiery maker and Selina Scothon née Frisby of Curzon Street, Nottingham.

His father Edmund was born in 1848 at Sneinton, Nottingham, his mother Selina Frisby was born in 1851 at Mansfield, they were married in 1871 at Mansfield they went on to have 6 children.

In he 1911 census his parents are living at 54 Curzon Street Nottingham, Edmund 63 yrs is a hoisery maker he is living with his wfie Selina 60 yrs and their daughter Maud 17 yrs of age.

Harry was the husband of Gertrude Danby they were married on 16th September 1906 at St Stephens Church, Sneinton, they lived at 76 Hillside, Old Lenton,Nottingham.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 18 Thoresby Avenue Sneinton Hermitage Nottingham Harry Frederick 27 yrs is a carter he is living with his wife Gertrude 25 yrs.

Military history

Sergeant Harry Frederick Scothon enlisted at Nottingham, he served with 'C' Bty 152nd Brigade Royal Field Artillery, he was killed in action on 19th October 1917, he is buried at Bleuet Farm Cemetery, Belgium
