John Bunting (junior) was born on 12th November 1889 at Matlock, Derbyshire, he was baptised on 11th December 1889 at Bonsall he lived at 1 Ash Yard Sherwood Street Nottingham, he was the son of John Bunting (senior) a factory hand and the late Ruth Bunting née Bunting of 85 Mitchell Street, Radford, Nottingham.
His father John was born in 1868 at Bonsall, his mother Ruth Bunting was born in 1870 at Bonsall she died in 1909 aged 39 yrs, they were married on 9th June 1889 at Bonsall parish church, they went on to have 5 children.
In the 1911 census the family are living at 85 Mitchell Street, Radford, John 43 yrs is a widow and an overlooker in a spinning mill he is living with his children, Beatrice 19 yrs a spinner in a spinning mill, Laura 15 yrs a blouse finisher, Lawrence 13 yrs a scholar, May 11 yrs a scholar.
John Bunting (junior) married Florence May Wilkie (born 8th October 1894) whom he married in 1915 at Nottingham, they lived 13 Orange Street, Meadows, Nottingham.and had a son John born 29th January 1916.
Commencing 19th June 1916 his widow was awarded a pension of 15 shillings a week.
His widow remarried on 2nd February 1918 to a Joseph Bradley and lived at 16 Windsor Street, Union Road, Nottingham.
Private John Bunting enlisted at Nottingham and became a professional soldier. He served with 2nd battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment he went to France on 8th September 1914 and died of wounds, 13th October 1915, aged 25, at No. 10 Casualty Clearing Station (Remy Siding), Belgium.
