Family history

James Lacey Buck was born in 1880 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late George Buck a cordwainer and Mary Ann Buck nee Lomas of Nottingham

His father George was born in 1850 at Nottingham he died in 1919 he was 69 yrs old, his mother Mary Ann Lomas was born in 1850 at Nottingham, they were married on 5th July 1868 at St Stephens Church, Sneinton, Nottingham, they went on to have 6 children.

James Lacey was the husband of Maria Dale (born 10th May 1882) whom he married in 1900 at Nottingham, they had following children, the father of Harold, Mary Ann, Ernest, Emily, George, Daisy, Fanny and James Buck. they family lived at 69Upper Eldon Street, Nottingham.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 6 Wilson's Yard Goosegate Nottingham James 30 yrs is a plasterers labourer, he is living with his wife Maria 29 yrs and their 6 children.

Commencing 15th Febryary 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of 26 shillings and 6 pence a week.

Military history

Private James Lacy Buck enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 16th battalion Cheshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 19th July 1916 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Theipval Memorial
