Family history

FrederickStevenson was born in 1897 at Nottingham, he was the son of George a brick layers labourer and Elizabeth Stevenson née Cheetham and the brother of Harry Stevenson of 19 Front Row, Carlton Road, Nottigham.

His father George was born in 1854 at Newark, his mother Elizabeth Cheetham was born in 1862 at Sutton in Ashfield, they were married in 1881 at Nottingham, they had 7 children, sadly two were to die in infancy oe earley childhood.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 41 Carter Gate, Nottimngham, George 57 yrs is a brick layers labourer, he is living with hiswife Elizabeth 49 yrs a lace maker, they are living with their chidren, Harry 20 yrs a brick layers labourer and Frederick15 yrs a grocers errand boy.

Military history

Private Frederick Stevenson enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 12th battalion Northumberland Fusiliers he was killed in action on 18th July 1916, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial
