Albert Everard Read was born 23rd November 1871 at Nottingham, he was baptised on 25th February 1872 at St Andrews Church, Nottingham, he was the son of Everard a carver and gilder and his first wife the late Lucy Ann Ashworth and the brother of Lucy, Mercy,Betsy, Hattie, Arthur, Walter and Fred Read.

His father was born in 1849 at Hyson Green, his mother Lucy Ann Ashworth was born in 1845 at Nottingham, she died in 1887 at Nottingham she was 42 yrs old, they went on to have 8 children.

His father went on to remarry Clara Mary Read born 1851 at Nottingham, they were married in 1889 at Nottingham, they had 1 child.

In 1901 they lived at 172 Arkwright Street Meadows Nottingham.

In the 1911 census his parents are living at 42 Hounds Gate, Nottingha, Everard 61 yrs is a carver and gilder, he is living with his second wife Clara Mary Read 60 yrs, they have been married for 21 yrs,
