Thomas Hall Scothon was born in 1890 at Manchester he was the son of Benjamin a house painter and Mary Elizabeth Scothon née Hall and the brother of Harriet and May Scothon.
His father Benjamin was born in 1863 at Nottingham, his mother Mary Elizabeth Hall was born in 1864 at Nottingham, they were married on 7th October 1883 at St Ann's parish church, Nottingham, they went on to have 3 children.
In the 1911 census the family lived at 14 Sneinton Hollows Nottingham Benamin 48 yrs is a house painter, he is living with his wife Mary Elizabeth 47 yrs and their children, Harriett May 23 yrs a lace jennier and Thomas Hall 21 yrs a house painter.
Thomas Hall married Mabel Fletcher (born 21st January 1887) in 1913 at Nottingham, Mabel brought a child to the marriage Frederick Fletcher born 19th June 1907 they had a child Benjamin Thomas born 26th October 1914, they lived at 6 Saby Terrace, Kinglake Street, Wilfrod Road, Nortingham.
Commencing 26th March 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of 18 shillings and 6 pence a week.
Private Thomas Hall Scothon enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 17th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action on 3rd September 1916, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial Pier & Face 10C 10D

'Scothon. In loving memory of our dear son Thomas Hall Scothon Sherwood Foresters killed in action in France September 3rd 1916. A day of remembrance so sad to recall. From sorrowing mother, father darling Benny and sisters Florrie and May.'
