Stanley Harrison was born in 1896 at Thorneywood, Nottingham, he was the son of John a brick maker and Elizabeth Ann Harrison née Shaw and the brother of Charlotte, Maud Lilian, John William and Eveline Harrison.
His father John was born in 1857 at Thorneywood, his mother Elizabeth Ann Shaw was born in 1859 at Sutton in Ashfield, they were married in 1876 their marriage was recorded in the Radford registration district, they went on to have 12 chidren,sadly 3 were to die in infancy or early childhood.
In the 1911 census the family lived at 118 Valley Road Porchester Nottingham, John 54 yrs is a brick maker he is living with his wife Elizabeth Ann 52 yrs and their children, Charlotte 30 yrs a dress maker, Maud Lillian 24 yrs a machinist, John William 17 yrs a grocers assistant, Stanley 15 yrs a grocers assistant and Eveline 13 yrs a scholar.
Private Stanley Harrison enlisted at Hucknall he served with the 1/7th Northumbrland Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 15th September 1916, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
