Frederick John Owens was born in 1889 at Nottingham, he was the son of John a lace maker and his first wife the late Sarah Ann Talbot of St Annn's, Nottingham he was the brother of William, Gertrude, James, Nellie and Louisa Owens.
His father John was born in 1857 at Taunton, Somerset, his mother Sarah Ann Talbot was born in 1859 also at Taunton,she died in in 1900 at Nottingham, she was 41 yrs old, they were married in 1880 at Chard Somerset, they went on to have 6 children.
His father married in 1907 at Nottingham to Louisa Atkinson born 1850 Hertford, they were married in 1907 at Nottingham.
In the 1911 census the family lived at 55 Young Street Blue Bell Hill Road St Ann's Nottingham John 54 yrs is a lace maker, he is living with his 2nd wife Louisa 56 yrs and his children, William 29 yrs an upholsterer, Gertrude 26 yrs a blouse machinist, James 25 yrs a cabinet maker, Francis 22 yrs a brush maker, Nellie 15 ys an errand girl and Louisa 10 yrs of age.
Frederick John married Annie Mary Holmes (born 18th November 1887) on 20th Decembe 1913, they lived at 22 Hutton Street, Colwick Road, Nottingha,
Commencing 25th November 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 16 pounds and 3 pence aweek.
Sergeant Francis John Owens enlisted at Nottingham he served with the 2/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action, 21st March 1918, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact) Having no grave his name is commemorated: Arras Memorial, France. Bay 7.
