Charles Blower was born in 1888 at Great Massingham, Norfolk, he was the son of the late James Blower a general labourer and Sarah Blower née Balders of 95 Norwood Road, Radford, Nottingham.
His father James was born in 1857 at Great Massingham, he died in 1901 at Nottingham aged 44 yrs, his mother Sarah Balders was born in 1856 at Massingham, they were married on 20th November 1881 at Massingham, they went on to have 4 children, sadly 1 was to die in infancy orearly childhood, their other surviving children were Fred born 1886 and Elizabeth born 1898.
In the 1911 census the family are living at 95 Norwood Road, Nottingham, Sarah Blower 55 yrs is a widow she is living with her children, Charles 21 yrs a 3 speed assembler for a cycle manufacturer, and Elizabeth Blower 13 yrs a card board box maker.
Private Chares Blower enlisted and served with the 10th battalion Royal Fusiliers, he was reported missing and later confirmed as being killed in action on 14th September 1918, he is buried at Hermies Hill British Cemetery Grave Reference: IV E 2
