Harold Wright was born in 1897 at Nottingham, he was the son of Thomas a butcher and Kate Wright.
His father Thomas was born in 1865 at Wysall, Nottinghamshire and his mother Kate Brooksbank was born in 1866 at NottinghamIn they were married in 1895 at Nottingham
In the 1911 census the family lived at 69 City Road Old Lenton Nottingham Thomas 46 yrs is a butcher he is living with his wife Kate 45 yrs a domestic, and their son Harold Wright 14 yrs a butchers apprentice, also living with the family is Ada Brooksbank 42 yrs a net folder, sheis Thomas's sister.
Private Harold Wright, enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 2nd Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 16th September 1917. He is buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Loos.II D 8
In memoriam published 16th September 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :-
WRIGHT. – In loving memory of Pte. Harold Wright, killed in action September 16th, 1917, aged 20, Sherwood Foresters, 37 Gregory-street. He sacrificed his life for cause of freedom. What would we give to clasp his hand and bid him welcome home; loved by all. – From his sorrowing mother, father, aunt Ada.”
