Ernest Morris Ludlow was born in 1893 at Nottingham, he was the son of Joshua a railway signalman and Mary Ludlow née Morris and the brother of Alice and Alfred George Ludlow.
His father Joshua was born in 1861 at Safford Priory, Warwickshire, his mother Mary Morris was born in 1860 at Shipston on Soar, she died in 1916 at Warwickshire she was 56 yrs of age.
they were married in 1885 at Shipton on Soar, they went on to have 3 children.
In the 1911 census the family are living at 2 Spring Terrace Spring Close Nottingham Joshua49 yrs is a ralway signalman, he is living with his wife Mary 51 yrs and their children, Alice 25 yrs a sewing machinist for a tailor, Ernest Morris 18 yrs a joiners apprentice and Alfred George 14 yrs an office boy for a clothing manufacturer.
Ernest Morris married Ella Eliza Emily Fischer (born 24th October 1890) in 1916 at Nottingham, they lived at 130 Wilford Crescent, Nottingham.
Commencing 15th April 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 13 shillings and 9 pence a week.
Sapper Ernest Morris Ludlow enlisted at Nottingham, he initially served with the service number 417 in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was serving with the 470th field company Royal Engineers when he was killed in action on 26th September 1917 he is buried at New Irish Farm Cemetery, West Vlaanderen, Belgium 5.H.17
