Frank Harold Hobson was born on 8th May 1894 he was the son of William Newton a builder and the late Mary Ellen Hobson née Cooper he was the brother of John William, Emma, Mabel and Sydney Hobson.
His father William Newton was born in 1860 at Whitwick, his mother Mary Ellen Cooper was born in 1860 at Radford, Nottingham, she died on 12th November 1908 aged 48 yrs they were married on 24th May 1890 at Nottingham, they had 4 children.
In 1901 and 1911 they lived at 47 Robin Hood Street St Ann's Nottingham.
In the 1911 census the family are living at 47 Robin Hood Street, Nottingham, his widowed father William 50 yrs is a builder, he is living with his children Emma 25 yrs a housekeeper, Mable 19 yrs, Frank 16 yrs a lace machine builder and Sydney 14 yrs of age.

Air Mechanic 1st Class Frank Harold Hobson enlisted in the Royal Naval Air Service on 27th November 1914. He was a former engineer machine constructor.
He went out to the Dardenelles on 11th September 1915. He was admitted to hospital on 6th October 1915 (HMS Grantally Castle) suffering from typhoid and was transferred via Malta to England.
He was invalided from the service on 12th March 1916 and died in Nottingham on 13th March 1919. He is buried in Nottingham Church Cemetery.
