Walter Frreman (junior) was born in 1896 at Nottingham, he was the son of Walter Freeman (senior) a slater and the late Harriet Freeman née Harrison and the brother of Katie, Lizzie and Harriet Freeman of 8 Bullivant Street, Nottingham.

His father Walter was born in 1865 at Nottimgham, his mother Harriett was born in 1865 also at Nottingham, she died in 1903 aged 38 yrs, they were married on 31st January 1885 at St Ann's, Nottingham, they had 5 children.

In 1901 they lived at 2 No Man's Yard St Phillip's Nottingham.

Military history

Private Walter Freeman enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 9th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he served in Galipoli during 1915. he was killed in action on 26 September 1916 on the first day of The Battle of Thiepval. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
