Thomas Farrell (junior) was born in 1898 at Bulwell, he was the son of of the late Thomas Farrell (senior) a coal miner hewer and Elizabeth Farrell née Clifton, and the brother of Norah, Elizabeth, Gertrude, Emma, Mark, Elsie and Frederick Farrell.
His father Thomas Farrell (senior) was born in 1864 at Nottingham, he died in 1907 aged 43 yrs, his mother Elizabeth Clifton was born in 1871 at Menshgate, Bedfordshire, they were married on 30th June 1894 at Basford, they went on to have 8 children.
In 1901 they lived at 1 Catherine Street and in 1911 at 24 Keys Street (both Bulwell Nottingham).
In the 1911 census Elizabeth 40 yrs a widow and lace mender is living with her 8 children including Thomas 13 years of age.
Corporal Thomas Farrell enlisted at Nottingham, he seved with the 1st battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 14th November 1916, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial Pier and Face 10 B 11 B and 12 B.
