Family history

Frederick Charles Pheasey was born in 1885 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late Robert a stone mason and the late and Maria Jane Pheasey née Reddish and the brother of Ernest, Robert (died Nottingham 1911), Frederick (killed in action 15/10/1917) and Gertrude Pheasey.

His father Robert was born in 1849 at Nottingham, he died in 1911 at Sheffield he was 62 yrs of age, his mother Maria Jane Reddish was born in 1854 at Lenton, she died in 1901 at Sheffield she was 46 yrs of age, they were married in 1878 at Radford, Nottingham, they had 6 children.

In 1891 they lived at 31 Storer Street Sneinton Nottingham.

Frederick Charles married Ada Wildman (born 9th January 1886) on 19th May 1907 at St Peters Church, Sheffield, they went on to have the following children, FlorenceBeatrice born 25th June 1907, Lily Irene born 20th July 1909, Gertrude Annie born 22nd October 1911 and Ada Pheasey born 23rd April 1915.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 12 Brown's Yard Cattle Folds Lane Sheffield, Frederick Charles 25 yrs is brick layer labourer, he is living with his wife Ada 25 yrs and their children, Florence 3 yrs and Lily 1 year old.

Commencing 29th April 1918 he widow was awarded a pension of 28 shillings and 9 pence a week.

Military history

Private Frederick Charles Pheasey enlisted at Sheffield, he initially served with the service number 5782 in the Yorks and Lancaster Regiment, he later transferred to the 21st battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 15th October 1917 and is buried at Dozingham Military Cemetery, Belgium.

Extra information

His brother Corporal Reuben George Pheasey enlisted at Sheffield, he served with the 12th Siege Bty, Royal Garrison Artillery, he was killed in action on 31st July 1915, he is buried at Vlamertinghe Military Cemetery, Belgium.
