Arthur Parker Mason was born in 1894 at Nottingham, he was the son of Arthur Raven Mason a warehouse man and Helen Mason née Parker and the brother of Nellie Eva, Flory, Lily and Bertie Mason.
His father Arthur Raven was born in 1864 at Hyson Green, his mother Helen Parker was born in 1863 at Nottingham, they were married in 1887 at Nottingham, they had 5 children.
In the 1911 census the family lived at 8 Lorne Grove Woodborough Road Nottingham. Helen 48 yrs is married and is living with her children Nellie Eva 23 years a sewing machinst, Florence 18 yrs a lace maker, Arthur 16 yrs a lace packer, Lily 14 yrs a hosiery threader and Bertie 12 yrs a scholar.
Helen later lived at 26 Northville Street Woodborough Road.
Rifleman Arthur Parker Mason enlisted on 4th September 1914 at Nottingham, he was 19 yrs and 125 days , he was a painter, he was posted to the 1st battalion Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. He was killed in action 10th March 1915 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial, France.
His brother Bertie Mason enlisted at Nottingham he served with the service number 242184 and served with the 2/6th battalion South Staffordshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 21st March 1918, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
