                        George Jordan was born in 1887 the son of Joseph a coal miner hewer and Annie Jordan née Hancock and the brother of Mary, Rebecca, Frank, William and Bertha Lillian Jordan. In 1911 they lived at 25 Pond Street East Kirkby.
Joseph was born in 1860 at Pinxton, Annie Hancock was born in 1862 in Warwickshire, married in 1883 heir marriage was recorded in the Mansfield registration district, they had 6 children.

                            Private George Jordan enlisted at Mansfield whilst residing at East Kirkby, he was killed in action on 4th October 1917 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot memorial.
