Private Herbert Roberts enlisted at Derby whilst residing at Sutton in Ashfield, he initially served with the service number 32945 in the Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment), later transferring to the 13th battalion Alexandra Prince of Wales Yorkshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 22nd March 1918, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France
