john Frederick Kenney was born in 1898 at Mansfield , he was the son of the late John Thomas Kenney and Alice Wilkins
His father John Thomas was born in 1876 at Mansfield, he died in 1901 at Mansfield, he was 25 yrs old, his mother Alice Wilkins was born in 1878 at Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, they were married in 1898 at Mansfield, he had a sister Alice Winifred.
Following the death of her husband his mother Alice Kenney re married Charles Fredeirck Goodman (born 1879 Leicester) they were married in 1903 at Mansfield,
In 1911 they lived at 34 Gladstone Street East Kirkby with John's step father Charles Frederick Goodman 31 yrs a railway fireman,he is living with hs wife Alice Goodman 32 yrs and their children, Ernest Goodmna 7 yrs a scholar, John Frederick Kenney 12 yrs (step son) Alice Winfired Kenney 11 yrs a scholar (step daughter). also living wit the family is a brother in law Samuel Charles Wilkins 30 yrs an army reservist and general labourer.
Private John Frederick Kenney enlisted at Mansfield he served with the 9th battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, he was killed in action on 26th April 1918 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial
