Military history

Private John Burns enlisted on 16th June 1915 at Mansfield, he served with the 2nd battalion Seaforth Highlanders, he was killed in action on 17th October 1916 aged 27 yrs, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
