Charles Henry Brooks

Charles Henry Brooks was born in 1874 at Sutton in Ashfield he was the son of the late Henry a blacksmith and Elizabeth Ann Brooks née Marriott,

His father Henry was born in 1843 at Sutton in Ashfield he died in 1917 at Mansfield he was 74 yrs old, his mother Elizabeth Ann Marriott was born in 1845 at Astworth, Derbyshire, she died in 1910 at Mansfield she was 65 yrs old, they were married on 23rd April 1867 at St Marys parish church, Nottingham. they had 9 children six of whom survived infancy.

Charles was the husband of Francis Elizabeth Hartshorne whom he married in 1898 at Nottingham, and the father of Bertie Horace, Florence Olive, Violet Irene, Charles Leslie and Norman Arthur Brooks.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 57 Silk Street Sutton in Ashfield, Charles Henry 37 yrs is a house painter, he is living with his second wife wife Eliza Ann Brooks née Bracknell 39 yrs ( they were married in 1900 at Leicester,) and their children Bertie Horace 10 yrs a scholar, Florence Olive 7 yrs a scholar, Violet Irene 6 yrs, Charles Leslie 3 yrs of age and Norman Arthur 10 months old, Charles Henry stated he had been married for 10 yrs and had 5 children.
