His pension record card shows he had a son Albert Ernest Smith born 28th October 1913, who's guardian was Mrs Emma Robinson of 4 Duches Street, Bulwell, Nottingham, his wife had died a pension of 10 shillings (motherless rate) was awarded to the guardian which commenced on 14th Aprl 1919.

Military history

Private Albert Smith enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Bulwell he served with the 2nd battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was awarded the Military Medal London Gazette 27th June 1918. he was killed in action 19th September 1918, on the outskirts of Holnon village.
