John Pearson was born in 1893 at Leicester he was the son of James a night watchman and his first wife Emma Pearson née Hallam.
His father was born in 1850 at Creaton, Northampton, his mother Emma Hallam was born in 1861 at Longbuckley, they were married in 1874 at Leicester, they had 5 children, sadly two were to die in infancy or early childhood.
Following the deat of his first wife he married Emma Blackwell born 1888 at Northampton in 1909 at Leicester,
In the 1911 census his father is living at 13 Craven Street, Leicester , he is 62 yrs and a night watchman for the corporation, he is living with his wife Emma Pearson 54 yrs, they state they have been married for 3 yrs and he had had 5 children, two of which had died.
John was the husband of Elsie Frearson (born 19th January 1893 ) they were married on 20th December 1913 at St Saviours Church, Leicester they lived at 21 Stanley Road St James Nottingham they had a daughter Hilda born 14th October 1914 in Leicester.
Commencing 7th January 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 18shillings and 9 pence a week, at this date she lived at 74 Guthlaxton Street, Leicester.
Private John Pearson enlisted on 29th March 1915 at Leicester he was living at 54 Frank Street,Leicester he was 22 yrs and 237 days old, he was a labourer his next of kin was his wife Elsie of the same address he was posted to the Leicestershire Regiment, he landed in France on 25th August 1915, transferred on on 7th October 1916 to the Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he returned to England on 18th July 1916, he returned to France on 4th March 1917, He reicived a gun shot wound to his head on 20th June 1917 and he died of wounds on 2nd July 1917 at Etaples he is buried at Etaples Military Cemetery, France.
