Family history

Tom Connelly Goodall was born in 1885 at Sutton in Ashfileld he was the son of Charles Henry Heath Goodall (1861-1899)

He was the husband of Rebecca Liley (born 1st December 1883 Mansfield), whom he married on 13th October 1906 at St Marys church, Sutton in Ashfield . They had one son, Harry Connelly Goodall, who was born on 2nd July 1911 (J/A/S Basford).

In 1911 Tom (26) and Rebecca (27) lived at Fryston Villas, Crocus Street, East Kirkby. Their only child, Harry, was born some months after the date of the census.

His widow was awarded a pension of 18 shiilings and 9 pence a week.

Tom's widow married Ernest J Heppenstall in 1920 (J/A/S Mansfield). Rebecca's brother, Bertie Clarke Liley, joined the Royal Navy and was killed on 26 November 1914 when HMS Bulwark sank after a catastrophic explosion.

Military history

Private Tom Connelly Goodall enlisted at Mansfield, he served wit the 3rd battalin Sherwood Foresters Regiment, He died on 23rd December 1916 and is buried in Kingsway Old Cemetery, Nottinghamshire (cemetery/memorial reference: A. A.V. 2680).
