Arthur Tatton was born on 24th March 1898 he was the son of John Henry a maltster and Fanny Tatton née Young and the brother of Eliza, Lucy, John Henry, Emily and Walter Tatton.
His father John Henry was born in 1855 at Nottingham, his mother Fanny Young was born in 1857 at Nottingham, they were married on 17th July 1877 at St Marys Church, Nottingham, they went on to have 9 children sadly 2 were to die in infancy or early childhood.
In the 1911 census the family were living at 18 George Street Nottingham. Robert John 56 yrs is a maltster, he is living with his wife Fanny 54 yrs and their children, Eliza 33 yrs a shirt machinist, Lucy 30 yrs a shirt machinist, John Henry 27 yrs a lace threader, Emily 23 yrs a shirt machinist, Walter 15 yrs a book binder and Arthur 13 yrs a scholar.
Private Arthur Tatton enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 1 st battalion Leicestershire Regiment, he was killed in action on 27th May 1918, he is buried at Belgian Battery Corner, Belgium.
His brother Private 1654 Walter Tatton served in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was discharged from the Army on 4th August 1916 he died on 19th March 1920 at The Nottingham General Hospital, he was buried on 24th March 1920 at The Nottingham General Hospital he was buried on 24th March 1920 at Nottingham.
