Family history

John Edward Lambert was born in 1881 at Beeston he was the son of the late Robert Lambert an annuitant and Sarah Ann Lambert née Kingston and the brother of Charles Lambert.

His father Robert was born in 1825 at Deeping St James Lincolnshire he died in 1902 aged 77 yrs, his mother Sarah Ann Kingston was born in 1849 at Deeping St James, they were married in 1871 at Bourn, Lincolnshire

Following his fathers death his mother went on to remarry to John Parnham in 1884 at St Pauls Church, Nottingham, he died prior to the 1911 census.

In the 1911 census the family were living at 87 Upper Parliament Street Nottingham. Sarah Parnham 62 yrs a widow is living with her children, John Thomas Parnham 24 yrs a boot reparier, Charles Parnham 18 yrs a lace curtain card puncher and John Thomas Lambert 30 yrs a boot repairer.

He was the husband of Sarah Jane Thornhill born 9th May 1891, they married in 1911 at Nottingham, they had 3 children, Sarah Ann Millicent born 25th March 1912, Phyllis Margery born 16th September 1914 and Jennie Parnham born 21st December they lived at 37 Albert Terrace, Windsor Street, Beeston.

Commencing 30th April 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of 26 shillings and 3 pence a week. However his pension record card is marked that it was decided that his widow was not worthy to receive a pension, the three children being in the workhouse dated 2nd October 1918.

Sarah married William Bower in 1919 at Nottingham and they lived at 3 Pritchard Terrace Lotus Street St Ann's Nottingham.

Military history

Private John Edward Lambert enlisted at Derby he initially served with the service number 25506 in the Royal Lancaster Regiment, he was killed in action whilst serving with the 13th battalion The King's Liverpool Regiment, he is buried at Euston Road Cemetery Colincamps
