Thomas Claude Hollins was born in 1898 at Nottingham, he was the son of Thomas Henry sawyer at a timber merchants and Jane Hollins née Hollingworth and the brother of Mary Jane and Stephen William Hollins of 2 Brook Aley, Coalpit Lane, Nottingham.

His father Thomas Henry Hollins was born in 1874 at Liverpool his mother Jane Hollingworth was born in 1876 at Nottingham, they were married on 10th March 1894 at Christ Church, Radford, they had 6 children sadly 1 was to die in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 19 Newbridge Street Nottingham Thomas Henry 37 yrs is a timber yard labourer, sawyer, he is living with his wife Jane 35 yrs and their children Mary Jane 17 yrs, Thomas C.W. 13 yrs a scholar, Stephen William 5 yrs and Annie Gladys 1 year old.

Military history

Private Thomas Hollins enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 2/5th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was klled in action, 21st March 1918, aged 20, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
