Tom Harber was born in 1900 at Liverpool, he was the son of the late Arthur Harber a barman and steward and Annie Rebecca Harber née Bell of 5 Collins Yard,Smith Street, Nottingham.

His father Arthur was born in 1888 in Richmond, Surrey he died in 1906 aged 38 yrs, his mother Annie Rebecca Bell was born in 1879 at Nottingham, they were married on 25th December 1896 at St Margarets, Anfield, Lancashire, they had a further son, Arthur Godfrey Harber born 1902

. In 1911 they lived at 23 Rutland Street Nottingham with Annie's family.they are living with his widowed grandmother Ann Moore Bell 68 yrs a caretaker, Annie Rebecca Harber 32 yrs also a widow is living with her sons Tom 11 yrs and Arthur Godfrey 9 yrs old.

His mother later lived at 5 Collins Yard Smith Street Radford Nottingham.

Military history

Private Tom Harber attested on 16th June 1917 at Nottingham, giving his address as 5 Collins Yard, Smith Street, Nottingham his age was 17 yrs and 300 days, his next of kin was his mother of the same address. He was posted to the reserves, mobilised for war on 22nd September 1917 at the Derby Depot he was posted to a training battalion. On 5th December 1917 he was posted to the Durham Light Infantry. He embarked from Folkstone on 3rd April 1918, he was killed n action on 1st June 1918, he is buried at Varennes Military Cemetery
