Guy Neville Hammond was born in 1891 at Nottingham, he was the son of Thomas William Hammond a lace designer and Eleanor Maude Hammond née Kearne of 12 Oxford Street Nottingham.

His father Thomas William was born in 1855 at Philadelphie, United Staes of America, his mother Eleanor Maude Kearne was born in 1868 at Birkdale, Lancashire, they were married in 1887 their marriage was recorded in the Bath registration district, they went on to have 3 children, Cecil Featherstone Hammond born 1888 Nottingham and Lillian Dahne born 1898 at Nottingham

In the 1911 census the family are living at 236 Derby Road, Nottingham Eleanor Maud Hammond 44 yrs wife, she is living with her daughter Daphne Lilian Hammond 17 yrs a student also living with them are 2 female servants.

In the same 1911 census his father Thomas William Hammond 56 yrs married a designer, is a visitor at Central Bakery, 28 Main Street, Beer he is visiting Fred Hoskins 41 yrs a baker and confectioner and his family

Guy Neville left England on 11th March 1912 to travel to Lagos, Nigeria.

Military history

Lieutenant Guy Neville Hammond served on the Special List with the 2nd Bn Nigeria Regiment West African Frontier Force, he died on 19th July 1916 and is buried at Yola Station Cemetery, Nigeria.
