Frederick Griffiths was born in 1887 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late Samuel Edward Griffiths a carter and Elizabeth Griffiths née Taylor of 68 Hounds Gate Nottingham.
His father Samuel Edward was born in 1849 Worcestershire, he died prior to the 1911 census, his mother Elizabeth Taylor was born 1849 at East Lake, Nottinghamshire, they were married in 1873 at Nottingham they had 10 children.
In the 1911 census we find that Frederick has enlisted into the Army, he is serving in India with the 4th battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps.
In the same 1911 census we find that his widowed mother is living at 68 Hounds Gate, Nottingham, she is 63 years of age, she was born at East Leake, Nottinghamshire and is a charwoman.
Rifleman Frederick Griffiths enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 4th battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps, he died of wounds on 2nd March 1915 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial, Belgium
