Family history

William Arthur Farmer (junior) was born in 1895 at Nottingham, he was the son of William Arthur Farmer (senior) and the late Elizabeth Ann Farmer née Whitehead of Nottingham

His father William Arthur Farmer (senior) was born in 1871 at Nottingham, his mother Elizabeth Ann Whitehead was born in 1871 at Cork, Ireland, she died in 1903 at Nottingham aged 32 yrs, they were married in 1890 at Nottingham, the had 3 further children, Ethel born 1893, Ernest born 1897 and Ellen born 1899.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 17 Bromley Place Angel Row Nottingham. William Arthur (senior) 40 yrs is a widower and an iron turner, he is living with his children, William Arthur 16 yrs a brass driller and Etty 12 yrs a scholar the family are living with Alice Williams 36 yrs single a house keeper.

Military history

Rifleman William Farmer enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 8th battalion Rifle Brigade, he was killed in action on 30th July 1915. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Menin Gate Panels 46, 48 & 50 Ypres, Belgium.
