Alfred Dodd was born in 1894 at Poplar, London (SDGW) however the 1911 census giveshis birth place as Birmingham.

He was the son of Harriett Dodd and the brother of James, Joseph, Rose (later Williams), Florence and Lily Dodd.

In 1911 they lived at 1 Crosland Place and later at 3 Japan Court High Cross Street (both Nottingham).in the 1911 census the family were living at 1 Crossland Place, Leenside, Nottingham, Harriett Dodd head of the family a widow is 60 yrs of age, she is living with her son James 25 yrs a labourer, Joseph 20 yrs a labourer, her married daughter Rose Williams 27 yrs a housewife, and her daughter Florence 22 yrs a domestic servant, Lily 16 yrs a domestic servant, and son Alfred Dodd single 15 yrs working in Dr Banadoes home.

Military history

Private Alfred Dodd enlisted at Worcester, he served with the 2nd battalion Worcestershire Regiment, he landed in France on 26th May 1915. He was killed in action on 26th September 1915, having no known memorial he is commemorated on the Loos Memeorial.
