Family history

Henry Bosworth was born in 1890 at Ruddington, Nottingham, he was the son of the late Gervase a cordwainer and his first wife the late Priscilla Bosworth née Shaw.

His father was born in 1825 at Bradmore he died n 1907 aged 82 yrs, his mother Pricilla White was born in 1825 at Bradmore, she died in 1897 at Nottingham, she was aged 72 yrs they were married in 1847 at Nottingham, they had 4 children.

Following the death of his first wife his father remarried in 1897 at Nottingham to Margaret Hull, born 1862 at Madras India.

In the 1901 census the family lived at Wilford Road, Nottingham, Gervase 76 ys is a cordwainer he is living with his wife Margaret Bosworth 39 yrs, and his children, Bertha 16 yrs a plain net mender, Henry 10 yrs, Gervase 8 yrs and Frederick 6 yrs of age,

Margaret Bosworth lived at 5 Taylor Street, Newbridge Street, Nottingham at the time of her step sons death

His pension recrod card show a claiment to his pension as Miss Mary E Shaw of 10 Wide Yard, Bridge Street, Derby the guardian of an illegal child. She was awarded a pension of 5 shillings a week commencing 29th March 1917.

Military history

Private Henry Boworth enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 15th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he went to France 8th September 1914 with the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and was later transferred to the 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and was killed in action, 9th May 1917, age 27, during the attack at Les Trois, Sauvage, France.

Commemorated : Thiepval Memorial, France. Pier and Face 10 C 10 D and 11 A.
