George Eric Taylor alias Eric Oswald Taylor was born in 1898 at Swinehead, Boston, Lincolnshire, he was the son of George William Taylor a farm labourer and his first wife the late Georgina Taylor née Collingwoodof of 57 Chilwell Road Beeston Nottingham.

His father George William was born in 1871 at Swinehead, his mother Georgina Collingwood was born in 1871 at Leverton near Boston, she died in 1905 aged 34 yrs, they were married in 1894 their marriage was recorded in the Boston registration district, they went on to have 4 children.

His father went on to re marry in 1907 at Nottingham to Emily Sarah Else born 1874 at Cambridge, they had a son Herbert born 190 at Swineshead.

In the 1911 census the family are living at South Street, Swiehead, George William 40 yrs is a farm labourer he is living with his second wife Emily Sarah 40 yrs a shop keeper/grocer and his children Herbert 1 year old, Herrick 13 yrs , John Edward 11 yrs, Frank Donald 9 yrs and Dorothy May 6 yrs of age.

Military history

Private George Eric Taylor enlisted at Boston, whist residing at Swineshead , he initially served with the service number 79971 in the Royal Filed Artillery, later transferring to the 2nd battalion Essex Regiment, he was killed in action on 10th October 1917 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial
