Family history

Albert Edward Saunders was born in 1883 at Clutton, Somerset, he was the husband of Ellen Emma Cutts Booth born 14th Decembe 1885 Nottingham they were married on 4th August 1902 at St Nicholas Church, Nottingham, and the father of Leonard Saunders born 15th September 1904 and Joseph Brown Saunders born 1917.they lived at 163 Wollaton Street, Nottingham.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 11 Alderney Street Lenton Nottingham Albert Edward 28 yrs is a lace gasser, he is living with his wife Ellen 27 yrs and their son Leonard 6 yrs of age and his mother in law Cassy C Booth 57 yrs a widow and her children, Maud Booth 15 yrs and Baden Booth 10 yrs of age.

Commencing 30th June 1919 his widow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence a week.

Military history

Private Albert Saunders enlisted and served with'D' Coy 2nd Battalion, Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he died on 19th September 1918 aged 35 yrs, he is commemorated on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial
