Family history

William Stennett Rudkin was born in 1890 at Stewton, near Grantham, he was the son of William Rudkin a groom and Matilda Rudkin née Camm, his father William was born in 1867 at Ropsley, his mother Matilda Camm was born in 1867 at Stainsby they were married in 1889 their marriage was recorded in the Grantham registration district.

His siblings were Florence born 1893, Grace born 1896, Edith born 1897 and Charles born 1899.

His sister Miss Florence Rudkin of 14 Willoughby Street New Lenton Nottingham was his next of kin, his parents having died before him.

Military history

Rifleman S/10223 William Stennett Rudkin enlisted on 29th April 1915 at Croydon, giving his age as 25 yrs and 1 month, he was a tram conductor and was living at 82 Boswell Road, Thornton Heath, he joined the Rilfe Brigade at their Winchester barracls on 30th April 1915, he died of wounds , gun shot wounds to his legs and arms and died of his wounds on 10th January 1916 he is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery
