Albert Edward Moulds was born in 1893 at Harby, Leicestershire, he was the son of Sarah ELizabeth Moulds Smith of 34 Williams Terrace, Windsor Street, Beeston,
His mother was born in 1871 at Hose, Leicestershire, she married Albert Smith born Harby in 1870, he died in 1909 he was 39 yrs of age, they were married on 15th Janaury 1894 at St Marys Church, Harby they went on to have 4 further children, Percy Smith born 1894, Mary Ann Smith born 1897 Frances Maud Smith born 1900 and Claud William Smith born 1904.
In the 1911 census his widowed mother is living at 21 Stoney Street, Beeston, Nottingham. and shown as Sarah Elizabeth Smith head of the family 38 yrs and a widow and charwoman is living with her children, Albert Edward Smith 19 yrs a bircklayers labourer, Percy Smith 16 rs a farm labourer, Mary Ann Smith 14 yrs a jacker off in the lace trade, Francis Maud Smith 11 yrs a scholar and Claude Smith 7 yrs a scholar
Rifleman Albert Edward Moulds enlisted at Nottingham on 8th September 1914, giving his age as 21 yrs and 278 days, whilst residing at Beeston, he served with the 12th battalion Rifle Brigade, landing in France on 31st December 1915, he was killed in action on 14th April 1916, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ypres Menin gate memorial, Belgium.
His brother Percy Smith served with the service number 56332 in the 2/6th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he died on 26th September 1917 he is buried at New Irish Farm Cemetery Belgium
