Family history

Arthur Lee was born in 1895 at Nottingham, he was the son of Joseph an antique dealer and Elizabeth Ann Lee née Ensor of 17 Nelson Road Beeston Rylands Beeston. Nottingham

His father Joseph was born in 1872 at Nottingham, his mother Elizabeth Ann Ensor was born in 1862 at Coventry, they were married in 1897 at Nottingham, they went on to have 4 children.

In the 1911 census the family are living at Plains Road, Mappery, Joseph 39 yrs is an antiques dealer, he is living with his wife Elizabeth Ann 48 yrs and their children, Arthur 15 yrs a butcher, Joseph Alfred 12 yrs a scholar, William 14 yrs a grocer and Phyllis Gertrude 2 yrs of age.

Military history

Private Arthur Lee enlisted at Nottingham he served with the 2nd battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, He went to France on 8th September 1914 and was killed in action on 20th October 1914, when the battalion held position south-east of Bois Grenier, Ennetieres/Escobecques, France against a German attack.
