Family history

Arthur Steel Fussey was born in 1893 at Spittlgat, Grantham, he was baptised on 27th November 1892 at Spittlegate, he was the only son of Thomas a provision and general dealer and Ann Elizabeth Fussey, née Shelbourn of Great Gonerbey, Grantham.

His father Thomas was born in 1855 at Spittlegate, his mother Ann Elizabeth Shelbourn was born in 1858 at Great Gonerby, they were married in 1889 their marriage was recorded in the Grantham registration district.

In the 1911 census the family lived at Pond Street Great Gonerby Grantham Thomas 56 yrs is a provision and general dealer, he is living with his wife Ann Elizabeth53 yrs and their son Arthur Steel Fussey 18 yrs an apprentice cabine maker.

Military history

Private Arthur Steele Fussey enlisted at Beeston Nottingham he served with the 2nd battalion King's Own Scottish Borderers he was killed in action on 29th September 1916 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
