Family history

Frank Eaton was born in 1889 at Ilkeston, he was the son of John Eaton a frame work knitter and Elizabeth Eaton née Bellingham. of Ilkeston.

His father John was born in 1868 at Ilkeston, his mother Elizabeth bellingham was born 1861at Ilkeston, the were married on 10th June 1878 in Derbyshire, they had 3 children, Allen Samson born 1880 at Ilkeston and Samuel born 1885 at Ilkeston.

In the 1911 census Frank is living at 11 Taylors Street, Ilkeston, he is 22 yrs of age and is a curtain maker, he is living with hs mother Elizabeth Eaton 50 yrs a hosiery factory winder,

He was the husband of Margaret Wells (born 27th December 1889) they were married in 1916 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they had children, Jessie born 28th February 1913, and Frank Eaton they lived at 14 Gordon Street, Ilkeston.

His widow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence a week which commenced on 23rd December 1918.

Margaret married Roy Tindall in 1925and lived at 25 Gregory Street, Ilkeston.

Military history

Private Frank Eaton enlisted at Beeston, Nottingham, he intially served with the service number 48185 in the Leicestershire Regiment, 29th Coy he was killed in action on 27th May 1918 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Soissons Memorial, France.
