Joseph Frank Booth was born on 12th February 1899 in Leicester, he was the only son of Frank Charles Booth a life assurance agent and Edith Christiana Fields Booth née Clow, of 39 Weldeck Road, Nottingham.

His father Frank Charles Booth was born in 1862 at Windsor, his mother Edith Christiana Fields Clow was born in 1872 at Leicester, they were married in 1897 at Leicester.

In the 1911 census Joseph is living with his grandfather Joseph Clow 63 yrs a boot manufacturer, they are living at Beechurst, Knighton Road, Leicester, his grandfather Joseph Clow 63 yrs a boot manufactuer is living with his married daughter Edith Booth 38 yrs and her husband Frank Charles Booth 49 yrs a a insurance manager and his grandson Joseph 12 yrs of age.

Military history

Sergeant Joseph Frank Booth enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 2/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, Recommended For D.C.M., Promoted Kings Corporal, and brought to the notice of The Secretary of State for War For Distinguished Services in connection with the war.

Killed in action 26th September 1917, age 18 he is commemorated on the Tyne Cott Memorial, Belgium, Panel 99 to 102 and 162 to 162A.He was promoted King's Corporal
