Family history

James Turton was born in 1883 at Sneinton, he was the son of the late James a cabman and Elizabeth Turton née Annible.

His father James was born in 1852 at Sneinton, he died in 1892 aged 40 yrs his mother Elizabeth Annible was born in 1853 also in Sneinton, they were married in 1881 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they had a further child a daughter Mary Eliabeth born 1881 at Nottingham.

His next of kin at the time of his death was his married sister Mary Elizabeth Sansom of 199 Waterway Street, Nottingham.

Military history

Private James Turton enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Arnold, he served with the 2nd battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he died of wounds on 30th April 1915 and is buried at Erquinghem-Lys Churchyard Extension, France. Plot 1. Row A. Grave 12.
