John Henry Perry was born in 1882 at Crich, Derbyshire, he was the son of Fountain Perry a plate later and Hannah Perry née Roe, of 11 Locanto Terrace, Church Street, Carrinton, Nottingham.

His father Fountain was born in 1861 at Crich, his mother Hannah Roe was born in 1862 also at Crich, they were married on 24th July 1881 at Crich, they had 3 children.

In the 1911 census his parnts are living at 11 Locanto Terrace, Church Street, Carrington, Fountain is 50 years and is a gas stove cleaner, he is living with his wife Hannah 49 yrs.

In the same 1911 census John Henry Perry has moved out of the famil home he is a servant 29 yrs single a cowman on a farm, he is living with James White 35 yrs a farmer at Overlane, Belper, Derbyshire.

Military history

Private John Henry Perry enlisted at Derby whilst residing at Carrington,Nottingham he served with the 5th battalion Border Regiment, he was killed in action on 23rd April 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
