Family history

Frederick Arthur Osborne was born in 1895 at Netherfield he was the son of Thomas James a railway goods guard and Alice Ann Osborne née Moss and the brother of Florence Annie, George Albert,Frederick Arthur, John William, Frank and Joseph Henry Osborne.

Thomas James was born in 1864 at Mainford, Northamptonshire, Alice Annie Moss was born in 1862 at Farthingham, Northamptonshire, married on 9th January at Oxfordshire they had 7 children.

In 1911 the family lived at 14 Cooper Street, Netherfield. Thomas James 47 yrs a goods railway guard he is living with his wife Alice Annie 49 yrs and their children. George Albert 20 yrs a railway engine fitter, Percy Edward 18 yrs a cabinet fitter, Frederick Arthur 16 yrs a telephone worker, John William 13 yrs an apprentice upholsterer, Frank 8 yrs a scholar and Joseph Henry 5 yrs of age.

Thomas and Alice later moved to Market Harborough, Leicestershire.

Military history

Private Frederick Arthur Osborne enlisted at Birmingham whilst residing at Netherfield. He was killed in action on 10th August 1915 at Gallipoli and his name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial.

His brother Lance Corporal Percy Edward Osborne was killed in action on 27th Sepetember 1915.
