Family history

William Key (junior) was born in 1881 at Nottingham he was the son of William Key (senior) a lace maker and Ellen Key née Tivey of 7 Wentworth Terrace, Forest Road, West, Nottingham. .

His father William (senior) was born in 1859 his mother Ellen Tivey was born in 1861 both were born in Nottingham, they were married in 1879 at Nottingham they went on to have 6 children sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census his parents and siblings were living at 7 Wentworth Trrace, Forest Road West, William Key (senior) 52 yrs is a lace maker, he is living with his wife Ellen 50 yrs and their children, Frederick 27 yrs a gas meter maker, Gertrude 21 yrs and Henry 17 yrs a painter improver

William Key (junior) married Ellen Sarah Ann Patterson on 24th December 1904 at St Georges Church, Nottingham. they had two children Grace born 25th February 1906 and Gladys born 13th January 1912

In 1911 they lived at 4 Wentworth Terrace Sherwood Nottingham William 30 yrs is a bobbin carriage hand he is living with his wife Ellen 26 yrs and their daughter Grace 5 yrs

Military history

Private William Key enlisted at Nottingham, he served with 'A' Company, 7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he died of wounds on 16th July 1915 and is buried at Wimereux Communal Cemetery, France. Plot 1. Row J. Grave 9.
