William Albert Broadhurst was born in 1892 at Keyworth

He was the husband of Florence Annie Duffin (born 6th March 1892) whom he married on 5th June 1914 at Hyson Green, they lived at 44 Marshall Street, Sherwood, they had a son Robert Charles Albert Broadhurst born 21st October 1914,

Commencing 4th November 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence a week.

His widow Florence married Arthur Scott in 1919 and they lived at 17 Davis Terrace Langwith Junction Mansfield.

Military history

Lance Corporal William Albert Broadhurst enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Sherwood, he served with the 16th battalion King's Royal Rifles, landing in France on 28th August 1915. He was killed in action on 13th April 1918 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial Panel 8

'In loving memory of Lce Corporal William Albert Broadhurst killed in action April 13th after 3 years in France with 16th KRR. Sadly missed silently mourned. He died a hero. Loved by all. From loving wife and baby.'
